Product - Automated I.D. Cladding BoreClad

Product Overview

Bortech Corporation is pleased to introduce BoreClad, an innovative system for I.D. cladding of nozzles, tubes and other circumferential components.

Pressure vessels, mud pumps and other oil field systems often require protection against corrosion from caustic chemicals, or erosion from slurries. Usually manufactured from mild steel, the devices can be clad with a protective material such as stainless steel or a nickel alloy to provide corrosion resistance. However, most welding processes leave voids where corrosion can damage the base metal.

BoreClad provides void free welds by combining GMAW welding with automated axial feed and rotation of chuckable parts. Workpieces of up to 36” length with 18” swing can be clad with stainless steel, Inconel, or other exotic metals. Other size devices can be accommodated on custom BoreCladders.

BoreClad also reduces weld times – it can lay five pounds of metal per hour.

Combining the best features of its industry-leading BoreWelders and Welding Lathes, Bortech’s BoreClad systems are designed for your most demanding applications.

The BoreCladder rotates the workpiece. Automated axial feed is provided, using Bortech’s “step” process. With water-cooled torches, workpieces as long as 36” can be welded without a single stop.

The non-rotating head can be purchased separately, for use with your welding positioner.

Features

  • Single start and stop provides a consistent weld
  • “Stepping” technology allows precision bead placement and complete weld coverage, from the first bead to the last
  • Independently adjustable parameters allow the user to control the bead thickness (weld deposition)
  • Travel carriage can be disengaged for rapid re-positioning
  • Steady-rests are provided for longer work pieces (one steady-rest standard, additional quantities and sizes are optional)
  • All steel construction
